Mosquitos infected with parasites are the cause of heartworms. An infected mosquito will bite the pet and then the infected parasites are transfered into bloodstream and nest in the animals heart. If left untreated it is fatal.
We recommend giving your pet year round prevention to protect against heartworms. Make sure that your pet is covered. Before starting on heartworm prevention each pet should have a heartworm test to check for heartworms. Contact our office today and make an appointment to have your pet tested for heartworms and start on heartworm prevention.
